Pride Prom
6:30-10 p.m., June 1; PUB, Main Dining Room
I’ll admit, as accepting as we tried to be, my high school prom was pretty hetero. For exactly that reason, multiplied by, like, every high school prom ever, Project Pride is putting on the latest entry in the annual SCC tradition of Pride Proms. All are welcome to attend, with whomever you choose to celebrate with, and it’s probably something you don’t want to miss. I heard last year’s drag show was un-freaking-believable. Also, snacks.
Fencing Tournament
7:30-10 p.m., June 1; Salle Auriol Seattle
SCC’s Fencing Club is participating in an unsanctioned tournament in Seattle, which I can only assume means sharpened blades and fight club rules. Just kidding, I’m sure it will all be very safe, while still being as thrilling as anything involving swords and wire masks.
UW School of Pharmacy
11 a.m.-1 p.m., June 4; Table in PUB
Pharmacists rock. They know science-y stuff and save lives and whatnot. There’s probably more to it, but I don’t know what that would be because I haven’t talked to the UW’s representatives in the PUB yet. But you could go, then you’d know more than me, if for no other reason than to lord that over me. Plus, hey, you might find you actually want to apply.
Employer of the Day
11 a.m.-1 p.m.; PUB Info Desk
Protective Coatings
June 4
Want to work with metal? Want to do it in Kent? Representatives from Protective Coatings will be on campus to talk about making those dreams come true.
Rhino Staging
June 11
Representatives will be on campus to talk about how you can spend your summer helping to set up concerts and festivals.
Financial Aid Workshop
2:30-4 p.m., June 4; FOSS, Room 5101
You probably got that email about the June 8 priority deadline for financial aid. Man, how lucky are you that this workshop is a mere four days prior. It’s almost like someone planned it that way.
Seattle University On-the-Spot Decision Day
11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., June 6; FOSS, Room 5229, Advising
Head over to learn all about enrolling at Seattle University for the fall, then find out if you’re in right then and there. You can sign up for the event on the college calendar or on Seattle University’s website under transfer events. Can’t make it? There’s another one at Seattle Central College on June 8.
Volunteer at Campus Garden
1-2 p.m., June 6 & 13; Greenhouse
Feeling compelled to counteract your dying brain cells by helping sustain life? Take a break from all that unhealthy studying and go get some fresh air. Unless you’re taking a botany course. Then it’ll probably just make things worse.
Workforce Funding Info Session
2-4 p.m., June 6 & 13; FOSS, Room 5101
Even before the school year ends, you really gotta start thinking about next year. But that’ll be a lot easier if you think of next year as tuition-free. Head over to FOSS and see if workforce can work for you.
Five Ways of Paying for College
6-7 p.m., June 6; Richmond Beach Library
SCC’s financial aid gurus will give a presentation and take questions on how to get scholarships, avoid debt and generally just pay for college.
Honors Info Session
12-5 p.m., June 7; Library, Room 4106, Honors Lounge
Are you just burning with envy at the thought of all those people wearing those snazzy golden honors cords when they graduate? Well, if you’ve got a few credits left to take, that could be you too. Drop by the honors lounge and learn what non-cord-based advantages there are to joining the honors college.
Honors College Research Track Presentations
12:45-2:45 p.m., June 11 & 1-3 p.m., June 13; PUB, Room 9208, Quiet Dining Room
All year, certain brave or ambitious honors students have been working on the answer to a chosen “big question.” Now’s your chance to see what they found. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to say “I was there when they cured blindness,” or whatever grand solution they might have come up with.
Prep Day/Last Ebbtide
June 15
No classes today, which admittedly isn’t all that different for a lot of people at SCC. This is supposed to be a day to study for finals, but since you obviously already did that, the experts suggest some leisure time to allow all that information to transfer from short to long term memory. So swing by campus for the last Ebbtide of the year and dig into a day full of tacos, punk music and whatever awesome topic we come up with for the word search. Or, you know, not that last one, though I can’t imagine why you’d do anything else.
